“There’s also a greater space ratio onboard, allowing for less crowding and more space for guests to spread out and enjoy,” she says. The line’s newest ship, Silver Nova, which holds 728 passengers was ranked as the Best New Luxury Ship. Seabourn cruises to all seven continents, and most recently launched Seabourn Venture, "marking the first time the Carnival Corporation–owned luxury cruise line will offer adventurous sailings on an expedition ship built for extreme environments," Brady reported. “For the most part, luxury cruises appeal to a segment of travelers looking for similar experiences on land – more luxurious offerings, fewer crowds, and phenomenal activities. Luxury cruises tend to be longer than other cruises, so they appeal to guests who have ample time for vacation,” she adds. Paul Gauguin Cruises operates just one ship, but it is exquisite, hosting 330 guests and sailing only in the South Pacific to destinations like Tahiti, Fiji, Tonga, and the Cook Islands.

Viking Cruises

French luxury cruise line Ponant aims to make passengers feel as if they're traveling on their own private yachts. Guests enjoy Ladurée macarons, Veuve Clicquot Champagne, and luxurious Hermès bath products on board. Each of the company's ships features an onboard spa with massage cabins and either a Turkish bath or sauna. Ponant's luxurious small ships sail to remote destinations like Antarctica, incorporating once-in-a-lifetime experiences such as eclipse spotting from the edge of the earth.

Viking Cruises is a river and ocean cruise line that recently added expedition sailings and the Great Lakes trips to its repertoire. "T+L readers rave about the consistency of Viking's vessels and their Scandinavian design," cruise expert Fran Golden reported when Viking once again topped T+L's World's Best Awards last year. Viking came in at No. 1 in T+L's best mid-size ship category and river cruise category. Golden said the WBA Hall of Fame honoree's 50 river "longships" are "light-filled floating boutique hotels."

Oceania Cruises has just seven ships, but the debut of the brand-new Oceania Vista catapults this cruise line into the luxury division. The cruise line's relatively new Go Local shore excursions for small groups bring travelers to under-the-radar destinations, T+L contributing editor and long-time cruiser Sarah Greaves-Gabbadon reported recently. Her 2022 cruise on Riviera included 70 excursions "from canoeing Croatia’s Cetina River to cooking classes in Athens." If you've ever dreamed of having your own butler, Silversea is the luxury cruise line for you.

On board, you'll find fine dining, expansive spas and fitness facilities, and butler service. Windstar Cruises' luxury small ships call on 150 ports throughout Europe, Central America, the Caribbean, and the South Pacific, and there's no way you'll go hungry on the journey. Exquisite onboard menus have been designed by acclaimed chefs from Michelin-starred restaurants.

So much so that Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ 34,000-mile world trip for 2024 sold out in just over two hours, while the adults-only Virgin Voyages, which aims to throw cruise stereotypes overboard, rose to first place in Large Ships. And we’ve brought back last year's new category showcasing the expedition cruises – small, often sustainable vessels with a shoal of scientific experts onboard – that follow in the wake of adventurers such as Sir Ernest Shackleton. See the lines and ships that best represent excellence in ocean and luxury cruising, chosen by Cruise Critic's international team of editors. McDaniel notes other ways in which ship size affects the cruising experience.

In fact, Silversea's butlers take white-glove service to a whole new level — they'll handle your laundry with more care than you do, scour port towns to find your favorite tastes of home, and even help you pack and unpack your suitcase. Further, Silversea's new culinary program, nicknamed S.A.L.T. (for Sea and Land Taste), brings the taste of destinations on board through cooking classes. Of course, there's no need to cook for yourself aboard a Silversea ship, as each one features several restaurants with multi-course menus to whet your appetite every night. By definition, small ships hold fewer than 1200 passengers, usually making the cruise experience more intimate with more individualized service.

Get to know the best cruise lines in a variety of categories, based on member review ratings for cruises taken in the last year. Cruise Critic is an online cruise community with more than 650,000 ship reviews of 700 ships from experts and cruise aficionados. Emerald Yacht Cruises, a line best known for its river ships, launched its first ocean-going vessel, Emerald Azzura, in 2022 followed by an identical sister ship, Emerald Sakara, in 2023. "The cruise itself was absolutely perfect. Nice weather, great excursions, beautiful scenery, nice ship and excellent staff." For the best in-suite views, book a room at the back of the ship, Kelly Cochrane, executive chef of Regent Seven Seas Cruises tells T+L.

The ship is small enough to access private ports at remote beaches and take travelers well off the beaten path. Named the best small-ship ocean cruise line in T+L's 2022 World's Best Awards, Golden said the line is known for Tahitian-inspired massage techniques in the onboard spa and noted that cruisers particularly love the wonderful staff. Everything from shore excursions, Wi-Fi, and laundry to gratuities, top-shelf liquor, and business-class international flights are included with Regent Seven Seas Cruises' fares. While each luxurious suite features ocean views, nothing beats the view from the epic 4,000-square-foot, two-bedroom Regent Suite, which has two wraparound balconies, three walk-in closets, two Picasso lithographs, and a grand piano. Whether it's a river or an ocean you want to cruise, Scenic can take you there in style. The luxury cruise line operates river cruises in Europe and Asia, while ocean cruises on Scenic Eclipse (and the forthcoming Scenic Eclipse II) can take guests to Antarctica, the Arctic, Australia, South America, and Greenland, among other coveted destinations.

Her writing has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, Departures, TripSavvy, and other publications. “And if someone has cruised before–or considers themselves an avid cruiser–we hope this list helps introduce them to new options, whether an entirely new line or new possibilities offered by some of their favorites. Silversea Cruises topped the list as Best Luxury Cruise Line for the second year in a row.

Celebrity's signature Iconic Suites on board the Celebrity Edge and Apex offer panoramic views from above the ship's bridge; each suite boasts more than 2,500 square feet of space, including expansive 690-square-foot terraces, and comes with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Celebrity Beyond, which debuted in 2022, accommodates 3,260 guests has 32 bars and restaurants, like Le Voyage by chef Daniel Boulud, and two-story villas on board. Cruises are booming right now, buoyed partly by the popularity of domestic seacations that hauled in first-time sailors.

Can't say enough about the friendly crew on board that served you well at every touch point. I sent a request for a cruise quote for 4 people in 2 cabins with specific instructions in the notes not to call me. Apparently they don’t read the notes with instructions. Why even have the box if you’re not going to g to read it?

I could not get a hold of the original agent who sent an e mail quote to me as I left messages 3 days in a row so I called back for anyone. The agent would not honor the price I was quoted for insurance in an email so I didn't book it with the cruise. The agent talked me into the next level in icruise rewards stating it can be cancelled at anytime.

I have been issued a complete refund when I only asked for a partial. Cruise.com has been connecting travelers with the perfect cruise vacations since 1998. We pride ourselves in the best service possible, an accomplishment acknowledged by the most authoritative companies in the cruise industry. Cruise.com was named Agency of the Year by Carnival Cruises and Royal Caribbean Cruise Line. I found a cruise at a great price on Icruise.com. I called the company to book (showed approximately 20 rooms at the price) and they said that it's not the same price through royal caribbean now.

Write a review

So then I called the guy out about the notes & he hung up on me. Then days later someone called me & wanted to give me info on a cabin for 2. They used to have US based agents but now it’s going to a foreign country call center & I don’t like that. If they can’t pay attention to simple notes, imagine what your reservation is going to be like. I’ve used them in the past but I’ll never use them again.

10 days prior we began process…Attempted 4 TIMES to upgrade our trip…. Spoke to Joann first….the next THREE 3… reps referenced her notes….gave the same answer! A representative will be back to you within 24 hours…. Enjoyed it tremendously…..already booked a 2nd trip….

Since being contacted by a supervisor a complete refund has been issued icruise has completely resolved my complaint. Helpful agents with good information and tips in planning our vacation cruise. We got a great deal, and went at a great time for us and the weather. Too much fog and rain to do our morning excursion on a Sea Plane to see all the glaciers. Norwegian is a great cruise line with lots of helpful staff to serve you everywhere you went on the ship. Using internet was extremely confusing, but very necessary if you are used to it.

Not fair your reps come across very cordial, yet the issue presented falls by the wayside….. When we booked our cruise everything went well and we had a great agent, but she left the company and management did not assign another agent. We were bounced around to different agents and my poor hearing and language accents caused us no end of frustration. We had to repeat all our info for each person we talked to and then be transfered to the next person to repeat it all again. We talked to Monserrat, Sakina, Aisa, who finally got everything worked out for us.

Historical data indicates the average rainfall in March for most of the major destinations in Western Mexico approaches zero. If you happen to take a Mexican Riviera cruise from Los Angeles, you can expect a very dry month of sailings. March is still the dry season in the Caribbean, so you should not have to worry too much about getting soaked from a rainy day.

If you're looking to get a deal on a cruise, the first week is usually safe from spring break, which means lower demand. Likewise for the very end of the month, when anyone who didn't take a spring break cruise earlier will wait for April. Every school has a different week for spring break, so spring breakers can be on various sailings in March or April. This month sees lots of families heading for a cruise vacation to get a break from the chilly temperatures up north.

Mediterranean Cruise Onboard Experience

You’ll be rewarded with fewer crowds, lower prices, more temperate weather and an overall more enjoyable experience. What follows are my favorite cruises, based on my personal experience and expertise as a travel writer who has been on 18 cruises (and counting), as well as on user reviews and ratings. Another special treat, Windstar’s Watersports Platform gives you access to the Mediterranean’s beautiful blue water straight from the ship. There are also plenty of dining, cocktail, and entertainment opportunities on board, including productions from Wicked Composer Stephen Schwartz. Norwegian Cruise Line, or NCL, is known for bringing “freestyle cruising” to the industry.

Variety Cruises

From the old villages to the glittering casinos, the shore excursions with this journey abound. Though there’s plenty to do onboard too, including wine tastings, guest lectures, and fun-filled trivia nights with fellow guests. With its sunny weather and stunning coastline, it’s an ideal destination for cruisers looking to relax and explore. Cartagena’s best shore excursions are the best way to enjoy Cartagena’s tourist hotspots, including the ancient walls of Cartagena and the nearby Roman ruins of Carthago Nova.

Plan the Best London Day Trips Ever

We recommend the 10-night Venice to Rome itinerary, which explores Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast before calling upon Montenegro, the Amalfi Coast and Capri before arriving in Rome. Curated excursions in each port are designed to provide exceptional experiences that make the most of each destination. In true Ritz-Carlton fashion, the Concierge Ashore can also create a personalized outing tailor-made just for you.

Seabourn

You’ll sail through the Strait of Gibraltar before visiting Cadiz and ending in Lisbon, Portugal. Be sure to spend some extra pre-cruise time in Barcelona and post-cruise time in Lisbon because you won’t have time on the actual cruise to explore these cities. Many cruise lines focus on seven- to 14-day itineraries in the Mediterranean, making it hard to find an option if you don’t have a full week or two for your vacation. Enter Norwegian Cruise Line, which offers an abbreviated four-day cruise for those looking to get a quick taste of cruise life.

The onboard spa is a natural extension, where a standard portfolio of treatments (massages, facials, wraps, and beauty treatments) is augmented by alternative therapies like acupuncture, sound therapy, and Chinese herbs. The day-to-day menus at S.A.L.T. Kitchen are all inspired by the ports visited. The Terrain menu focuses on that day's port while the Voyage menu draws from the best flavors of the entire itinerary. Holland America’s Mediterranean cruises take passengers everywhere from secluded Greek isles to Croatian castles and palaces. More overnights are included at the beginning and end of this cruise line’s itineraries, so guests can spend an extra day in cities like Athens, Rome, and Barcelona.

Shore excursion options include exploring the ruins of Pompeii, seeing the biblical destinations of Nazareth and Galilee, and simply soaking in the ambiance of Capri for an entire day. I’m a Florida-based freelance travel and lifestyle journalist who has embarked on more than a dozen cruises, including several in the Mediterranean. As a traveler, I am just as comfortable bicycling through Italian olive groves and SCUBA diving the wall of sharks in French Polynesia as I am sipping bubbles in a Champagne house and dining at Michelin-starred restaurants. The yacht sails myriad Mediterranean itineraries ranging from five to 13 nights, calling upon the most captivating ports in the region.

Nuclear cruise missiles are armed with nuclear warheads.

Nuclear Cruise Missiles Are Armed With Nuclear Warheads., Cruises 10 1

Nuclear warheads are nuclear weapons that are designed to be delivered by a missile or other delivery system. Nuclear warheads are much more powerful than conventional explosives, and they can cause widespread destruction. The yield of a nuclear warhead is measured in kilotons or megatons. One kiloton is equivalent to the explosive power of 1,000 tons of TNT, and one megaton is equivalent to the explosive power of 1 million tons of TNT.

Nuclear cruise missiles typically carry nuclear warheads with yields ranging from 10 kilotons to 200 kilotons. These warheads are small enough to be carried by a cruise missile, but they are still powerful enough to cause significant damage. For example, the nuclear warhead that was dropped on the Japanese city of Hiroshima in 1945 had a yield of 15 kilotons and killed an estimated 140,000 people.

Nuclear cruise missiles are a very dangerous weapon. They can be used to attack a wide range of targets, including cities, military bases, and nuclear weapons sites. The use of nuclear cruise missiles could lead to a nuclear war, which would have catastrophic consequences.

There are a number of countries that possess nuclear cruise missiles, including the United States, Russia, China, and France. Cruise missiles are typically launched from aircraft, ships, or submarines.

Cruise Missiles Are Typically Launched From Aircraft, Ships, Or Submarines., Cruises 10 1

Cruise missiles can be launched from a variety of platforms, including aircraft, ships, and submarines. The type of platform used to launch a cruise missile depends on a number of factors, including the range of the missile, the target of the missile, and the operational environment.

Aircraft are often used to launch cruise missiles because they can fly long distances and can reach targets that are located deep within enemy territory. Aircraft can also launch cruise missiles from high altitudes, which makes it difficult for enemy air defenses to intercept the missiles.

Ships are also commonly used to launch cruise missiles. Ships can carry a large number of cruise missiles and can launch them from a relatively safe distance from the target. Ships can also be used to launch cruise missiles in support of amphibious operations.

Submarines are also capable of launching cruise missiles. Submarines can launch cruise missiles from underwater, which makes them very difficult to detect and intercept. Submarines can also be used to launch cruise missiles against targets that are located on land.

The choice of which platform to use to launch a cruise missile is a complex one. A number of factors must be considered, including the range of the missile, the target of the missile, and the operational environment. By carefully considering these factors, military planners can ensure that cruise missiles are used effectively to achieve their objectives.

Cruise missiles can travel long distances at low altitudes.

Cruise Missiles Can Travel Long Distances At Low Altitudes., Cruises 10 1

Cruise missiles are designed to fly at low altitudes, typically between 100 and 1,000 feet above the ground. This makes them very difficult to detect and intercept by enemy air defenses. Cruise missiles also have a long range, with some models capable of flying over 1,000 miles.

There are a number of advantages to flying at low altitudes. First, it makes cruise missiles more difficult to detect. Radar systems have a more difficult time detecting objects that are close to the ground, and cruise missiles can often fly under the radar horizon. Second, flying at low altitudes makes it more difficult for enemy air defenses to intercept cruise missiles. Air defense systems are typically designed to engage targets that are flying at high altitudes, and they may not be able to effectively engage cruise missiles that are flying at low altitudes.

The ability to fly at low altitudes also gives cruise missiles a number of tactical advantages. Cruise missiles can be used to attack targets that are located deep within enemy territory, and they can also be used to attack targets that are located in mountainous or heavily forested areas. Cruise missiles can also be used to attack targets that are located in close proximity to civilian areas, without causing unnecessary civilian casualties.

The ability to travel long distances at low altitudes makes cruise missiles a very versatile and effective weapon. Cruise missiles can be used to attack a wide range of targets, and they can be used to achieve a variety of objectives. Cruise missiles are an important part of the modern military, and they will continue to be used for many years to come.

### Cruise missiles are very accurate and can hit their targets within a few meters.

Cruise missiles are equipped with a variety of advanced guidance systems that allow them to hit their targets with pinpoint accuracy. These guidance systems use a combination of GPS, inertial navigation, and terrain mapping to guide the missile to its target.

  • GPS (Global Positioning System): GPS is a satellite-based navigation system that provides accurate location data to cruise missiles. GPS receivers on the missile are able to determine the missile's position and velocity, and this information is used to guide the missile to its target.
  • Inertial navigation: Inertial navigation is a self-contained navigation system that uses accelerometers and gyroscopes to track the missile's position and velocity. Inertial navigation systems are not as accurate as GPS, but they can be used to guide the missile to its target in the event that GPS is unavailable.
  • Terrain mapping: Terrain mapping is a technique that uses radar or other sensors to create a map of the terrain around the missile. This map is used to guide the missile to its target by comparing the actual terrain to the mapped terrain.

The combination of these guidance systems allows cruise missiles to hit their targets with pinpoint accuracy. This makes them a very effective weapon for attacking high-value targets, such as enemy command and control centers, air defense systems, and nuclear weapons sites.

The accuracy of cruise missiles has also been improved in recent years by the development of new guidance technologies. For example, some cruise missiles are now equipped with imaging seekers that can identify and track specific targets. These seekers allow cruise missiles to hit their targets with even greater accuracy, even in complex and challenging environments.

### Cruise missiles are relatively inexpensive to produce.

Cruise missiles are relatively inexpensive to produce compared to other types of weapons, such as aircraft or ballistic missiles. This is because cruise missiles are made from relatively inexpensive materials and components. For example, the Tomahawk cruise missile, which is one of the most widely used cruise missiles in the world, costs around $1 million to produce.

  • Economies of scale: Cruise missiles are produced in large quantities, which helps to reduce the cost of production. The more cruise missiles that are produced, the lower the cost per missile.
  • Standardized components: Cruise missiles use a number of standardized components, which also helps to reduce the cost of production. For example, the Tomahawk cruise missile uses a number of components that are also used in other weapons systems, such as the F/A-18 Hornet fighter jet.
  • Automated production: Cruise missiles are produced using automated production techniques, which further reduces the cost of production. Automated production techniques allow cruise missiles to be produced quickly and efficiently, with minimal human labor.

The relatively low cost of production makes cruise missiles a very attractive option for military planners. Cruise missiles can be used to attack a wide range of targets at a relatively low cost. This makes them a very cost-effective weapon system.

However, it is important to note that the cost of cruise missiles can vary depending on a number of factors, such as the type of missile, the range of the missile, and the guidance system used. For example, a long-range cruise missile with a sophisticated guidance system will be more expensive to produce than a shorter-range cruise missile with a less sophisticated guidance system.

### Cruise missiles are easy to deploy from a variety of platforms.

Cruise missiles can be deployed from a variety of platforms, including aircraft, ships, and submarines. This makes them a very flexible and versatile weapon system. Cruise missiles can be used to attack targets from a variety of locations, and they can be launched from a safe distance from the target.

  • Aircraft: Cruise missiles can be launched from a variety of aircraft, including bombers, fighter jets, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). This gives cruise missiles a long range and allows them to be used to attack targets that are deep within enemy territory.
  • Ships: Cruise missiles can also be launched from ships, including surface ships and submarines. This gives cruise missiles the ability to attack targets from the sea, and it allows them to be used to support amphibious operations.
  • Submarines: Cruise missiles can also be launched from submarines. This gives cruise missiles the ability to attack targets from underwater, and it allows them to be used to launch surprise attacks against enemy targets.

The ability to be deployed from a variety of platforms makes cruise missiles a very versatile and effective weapon system. Cruise missiles can be used to attack a wide range of targets from a variety of locations, and they can be launched from a safe distance from the target.

However, it is important to note that the deployment of cruise missiles can be limited by a number of factors, such as the range of the missile, the payload of the missile, and the availability of suitable launch platforms.

### Cruise missiles are vulnerable to interception by enemy air defenses.

Cruise missiles are vulnerable to interception by enemy air defenses. Enemy air defense systems can use a variety of methods to intercept cruise missiles, including surface-to-air missiles (SAMs), anti-aircraft artillery (AAA), and fighter aircraft.

  • Surface-to-air missiles (SAMs): SAMs are designed to intercept and destroy aircraft and cruise missiles. SAMs are typically equipped with radar systems that can detect and track incoming cruise missiles. Once a cruise missile is detected, the SAM will launch a missile to intercept and destroy it.
  • Anti-aircraft artillery (AAA): AAA is designed to shoot down aircraft and cruise missiles. AAA systems typically use radar systems to detect and track incoming cruise missiles. Once a cruise missile is detected, the AAA system will fire a barrage of shells to intercept and destroy it.
  • Fighter aircraft: Fighter aircraft can be used to intercept and destroy cruise missiles. Fighter aircraft are typically equipped with radar systems that can detect and track incoming cruise missiles. Once a cruise missile is detected, the fighter aircraft will launch a missile or fire its cannons to intercept and destroy it.

The vulnerability of cruise missiles to interception by enemy air defenses is a major concern for military planners. Enemy air defenses can make it difficult to use cruise missiles to attack targets in heavily defended areas. However, there are a number of steps that can be taken to reduce the vulnerability of cruise missiles to interception, such as using stealth technology, flying at low altitudes, and using electronic countermeasures.

Despite the vulnerability of cruise missiles to interception by enemy air defenses, they remain a valuable weapon system. Cruise missiles can be used to attack a wide range of targets from a variety of locations, and they can be launched from a safe distance from the target. Cruise missiles are also relatively inexpensive to produce and easy to deploy, which makes them a cost-effective option for military planners.

Cruise missiles have a limited range and cannot be used to attack targets that are located far away.

Cruise Missiles Have A Limited Range And Cannot Be Used To Attack Targets That Are Located Far Away., Cruises 10 1

Cruise missiles have a limited range, which means that they cannot be used to attack targets that are located far away. The range of a cruise missile depends on a number of factors, including the type of missile, the size of the engine, and the amount of fuel carried. However, most cruise missiles have a range of between 100 and 1,000 miles.

The limited range of cruise missiles is a major limitation. It means that cruise missiles cannot be used to attack targets that are located deep within enemy territory. Cruise missiles can also be vulnerable to interception by enemy air defenses if they have to fly a long distance to reach their target.

There are a number of ways to extend the range of cruise missiles. One way is to use a larger engine. Another way is to use a more efficient engine. However, both of these methods can increase the cost and complexity of the missile.

Another way to extend the range of cruise missiles is to use air-to-air refueling. Air-to-air refueling allows cruise missiles to be refueled in the air by tanker aircraft. This can significantly extend the range of the missile, but it also requires the use of specialized tanker aircraft and trained personnel.

Despite the limitations of their range, cruise missiles remain a valuable weapon system. Cruise missiles can be used to attack a wide range of targets from a variety of locations, and they can be launched from a safe distance from the target. Cruise missiles are also relatively inexpensive to produce and easy to deploy, which makes them a cost-effective option for military planners.

### The use of nuclear cruise missiles raises a number of ethical concerns.

The use of nuclear cruise missiles raises a number of ethical concerns. These concerns include the potential for nuclear proliferation, the risk of accidental nuclear war, and the humanitarian consequences of using nuclear weapons.

  • Nuclear proliferation: The use of nuclear cruise missiles could lead to nuclear proliferation. Nuclear proliferation is the spread of nuclear weapons to countries that do not currently possess them. Nuclear proliferation is a major concern because it increases the risk of nuclear war.
  • Accidental nuclear war: The use of nuclear cruise missiles could also lead to accidental nuclear war. Nuclear cruise missiles are relatively small and can be easily concealed. This makes them difficult to detect and track, which increases the risk of accidental nuclear war.
  • Humanitarian consequences: The use of nuclear weapons, even in a limited way, could have devastating humanitarian consequences. Nuclear weapons can cause widespread death and destruction, and they can also have long-term environmental consequences.

The ethical concerns surrounding the use of nuclear cruise missiles are significant. These concerns must be carefully considered before any decision is made to use nuclear cruise missiles in any conflict.

In addition to the ethical concerns listed above, the use of nuclear cruise missiles also raises a number of legal concerns. International law prohibits the use of nuclear weapons against non-nuclear-weapon states. However, the United States and other nuclear-weapon states have interpreted this prohibition to apply only to the use of nuclear weapons in a first strike. This interpretation is controversial, and many legal experts believe that it is not supported by international law.
